Quite simply a world class golf course is Black Mountain Golf Club, in a stunning setting. Surrounded on three sides by the black mountains themselves, and retaining all the natural creeks and contours of the site upon which it was built, this is simply one of the very best course in the area. Although designed for the pros, us amateurs needn't be too daunted - the fairways are actually more generous for a shorter drive, narrowing further down where Tiger would be landing his ball. When it comes to the blind holes and severe dog-legs however, you might find yourself paying for an overly conservative approach off the tee.
How to play Black Mountain Golf Club?
The greens are comfortable large but generally well protected by water and superbly sculpted bunkers. There are some great holes. At the par-5 6th, the John Daly's of this world can cut the water and reach the peninsula green in two, whilst us mere mortals have to play in regulation, hitting around a big loop such that we almost end up where we begun. The signature 11th is a par-3 where the island green is in front of a beautiful waterfall. A nightmare from the back tees, even front the front you need to be landing on the green or signing for a bogey or worse. The clubhouse is exceptional, providing panoramic views of the whole course while you sample the excellent food having shopped in the most extensively stocked pro shop in the area.
How to book tee times Black Mountain Golf Club?
The green fees might be above average at Black Mountain Golf Club, but the experience more than justifies the expense.
