A fairly recent addition to the Chiang Mai golf circuit, Chiangmai Inthanon Golf Resort is a hilly course surrounded by tropical fruit orchards and broken up by numerous creeks that meander throughout the course. Blessed with excellent views of the mountain from which it takes its name (Doi Inchanon, Thailand's highest peak), this is a perfect setting in which to play some golf. The contemporary-style clubhouse plays second fiddle to the course itself, but nonetheless has everything you need, and boasts great views over the course while you relive your triumphs and tribulations over a cold beer.
The course opens with a gentle par-5 and a couple of fairly straightforward par-4s, but don't be fooled, as the course gradually toughens up. The last few holes are some of the toughest in Thailand, the long uphill par-4 15th followed by a tricky downhill par-3 and then two of the most scenic holes in the area. The 18th is a 558 yard par-5 where you tee off over the crest of a hill whilst avoiding dense jungle to the left. Your second is played down into a valley and must be expertly positioned to allow for an approach to the water-guarded green. Many a round has had a promising score ruined by a watery end.
