An oasis of greenery near the city, the two courses here present a satisfying challenge, day and night.
If you're not exactly hitting John Daly distances from the tee, then this shortish course (only 6812 yards from the back tees) might be the course for you. Surrounded as it is by offices, a temple and an industrial area, it's surprising to step out onto the first tee into an oasis of greenery far removed from the outside world. Despite being short, this course has more than enough hazards to punish the golfer who takes his eye off the ball, both figuratively and literally. The resident ducks, geese and swans alone are more than enough to make your concentration waver.
Having said that, if you can hit straight the narrow fairways can provide some comfort, and we've found that the caddies are well versed in reading the fast, undulating greens. Especially memorable are the par 5 double dog-leg 9th (voted in the top 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine) and the island green on the par 3 11th, experiences only topped by playing at night, which is an interesting option at Bangkok Golf Club.
If you're short of time, why not try the club's second course, the 9 hole par 27 Mah Boonkrong International Par 3, where each hole is designed to mimic a famous par 3 from around the world. Get a taste of St. Andrew's, Pebble Beach and Augusta National in the heart of Thailand.
