Warren Golf and Country Club

Warren Golf and Country Club is a well presented parkland layout with some great water holes and sharply sloping greens.

Named after the British Commanding Officer of the 18th Signal Regiment who founded the club back in 1962, Warren Golf & Country Club is now one of the most varied and challenging courses in Singapore. Located on a tributary of the Kranji Reservoir (which provides the wet stuff for a number of water hazards here), this is a well presented parkland layout with tree-lined fairways, stylish bunkering and heavily sloping greens.

How to play Warren Golf Course?

It's the water that provides the most intoxicating challenge here, whether it be the five times you are forced to cross the drainage canal, most notably off the 18th tee where you must cross diagonally and skirt a couple of menacing fairway bunkers on a par-4 where getting on the green in regulation is a tough as getting down in two on the steeply sloping putting surface. The picturesque signature par-3 14th requires a knee-trembling carry over water from tee to green, while your approach into the green of the par-4 6th must flirt with the lake around which the hole dog-legs. The back half of the small, elevated green slopes towards the water so landing on the putting surface is no guarantee your ball will end up there.

The undulating Zoysia fairways are generally quite generous, and the trees that line them never too densely packed to make recovery an impossibility, whilst the Bermuda greens are fast and contoured. The rough, being up to three inches deep, is best avoided as it will cost you significant distance if you have to play out of it. The whole course is well maintained, and the trees, shrubs and flowers that frame the course provide an attractive backdrop to proceedings.

Aside from the course itself, there are full practice facilities including chipping and putting greens lit for night use, spacious locker rooms, a fitness centre, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts and snooker tables. Overall, a round at Warren Golf & Country Club is a great choice on a Singapore golf holiday.
