How to play The Montgomerie Marrakech Golf Course
With departures in height, water hazards and varied greens, the course of 75 hectares offers outstanding technical interest and a wide variety of game for amateur and professional golfers.
The course starts with a very short par four, where you simply aim for the central mosque in Marrakech, the Koutoubia, to get your line. A nice and straightforward warm-up.
You then tunnel under a road, and the next seven holes are played on the other side.
On the back nine you find some of the more challenging holes, especially the quite difficult 14th and 15th holes. For a high handicap golfer, the back nine are tough for a better golfer they are an interesting challenge, being long and well bunkered.
The 15th is the signature hole with a left to right dog-leg and the far-right bunker is drivable off the back tee for longer hitters. Don't underestimate the 17th as this is usually into the prevailing wind and will play significantly longer than its 425 yards contrasting this with the 530-yard par 5 18th which is easily reachable in two with a long iron.
