Up on the hills there is a hidden jem: Minthis Hills golf Club. This course is set in the grounds of a 12th century monastery which lies in a gentle picturesque valley, 550m above sea level. It offers superb variety as no 2 holes are the same and is suitable for players of all abilities. The abundance of trees (olive, walnut and almond) are a delight. Some of the olive trees are centuries old. There's a vineyard to the left of the first hole and the use of local stone throughout the golf course is attractive and interesting.
How to play Minthis Hills Golf Course?
The narrow tree-lined fairways should indeed not be underestimated and provide a great challenge for every golfer while the breathtaking views are a small compensation for the odd bad shot. Special mention for the stretch of holes from the 8th through the 13th. The 12th is across a ravine and the 13th is an island green surrounded by water about 135 yards from the yellow tees. The course has great greens which hold if you hit them and run true when putting. Trees can cost you a shot but you're not spending time ball searching.
