Ras Al-Khaimah is the most northern Emirate and is  not as well known as some of its more famous counterparts.  This area offers a quieter feel then Dubai or Abu Dhabi but it has still been massively modernised in recent years.  With the completion of the new Emirates highway RAK is only 1 hours drive from Dubai.

So from this more relaxing tourist area you can take in the calm blue seas with clean white beaches and resorts which give you a wonderful opportunity to snorkel and dive in these waters amongst the coral.  The majestic Hajjar mountains seem to touch the sky at 1900 meters, the dramatic dunes and the various timeless cultural legacies with the special Arab hospitality you come to expect.  

There is so much to see here, the National Museum with its natural history exhibits of arts and crafts of the past centuries, the only surviving hill top fort in the UAE the Dhayah Fort, the Shamal and the Sheeba Palaces and the Old City and the Souq where you can see the traditional and modern shops as well as many artisans workshops.
