One of the most prestigious courses in Thailand; quite simply a must-play. One of Thailand's most prestigious clubs, with more than 2,000 members paying fees of more than $300,000, Thai Country Club has hosted numerous prestigious events, such as the 1997 Asian Honda Classic when Tiger Woods won by a massive 10 strokes. Fortunately the club, regularly voted in the top 5 in Asia, is open to us non-members at certain times, and really this is an experience not to be missed.
The conditions are naturally pristine - immaculate fairways, lightning greens and tough Bermuda rough. There is plenty of water to punish errant shots though fortunately no hazards that require onerous carries. Interesting pin placements on undulating greens ensure your abilities are continually tested; the 218 yard par-3 6th, with a green dauntingly protected by water and sand, is a spectacular sight and a tremendously difficult proposition. The stroke average even for professionals is a whopping 3.38, which gives you some idea of how highly you should prize a birdie, or even a par.
The caddies are probably the best trained in Asia and the clubhouse is a beautiful, award-winning construction with facilities that are second to none. In Thailand, it really doesn't get much better than the Thai Country Club.
