This course was planned by Pete Dye and Marco Croze, two veritable authorities of international golf who once again created twenty-seven specially designed holes. In the heart of the best champagne-producing area in Italy, the Franciacorta golf course covers an area of almost 150 acres, reclaimed from land which was at one time tended as vineyards, but then fell into disuse. Prudent landscaping recreated the old rural atmosphere of the uplands with the farmhouses set among the hillside vineyards. For golfers who love anything new, the Franciacorta golf course is the only course in Italy created on typically American lines.
There is, however, a familiar face: Peo Tadini, a former national player who was appointed green keeper to superintend the new course, calling on his considerable experience to take it to maximum competition levels.
