Excellent value golf in a beautiful woodlands environment. One of very few Nick Faldo designed courses in Thailand, the Chuan Chuen Golf Club is a pleasant woodlands course and its mature trees teeming with birdlife make this a particularly picturesque and refreshingly natural golfing experience. The water hazards, dog-leg fairways and small greens place a premium on the type of accuracy for which Mr. Faldo himself was once renowned, but golfers of all skill levels will enjoy this course. A couple of holes in particular stand out: the 173 yard par-3 6th, where finding either the water in front or the deep bunkers to the right and behind of the green mean certain dropped shots, and the par-5 12th. Here, a long tee shot avoiding the lake that runs along the right of the fairway is required for a good position from which to hit your second shot, which must negotiate a dog-leg right with water on the left. If you can get there safely then a small, fast green (typical of the course) presents a final challenge. Pars are to be cherished here. Take advantage of being on holiday and play during the week as at busy weekends you may have to join another group to make up a six, which makes the going quite slow. The clubhouse and locker rooms are no more than decent, but then again the green fees are more than reasonable so it seems churlish to complain. And regardless, you don't need to be budget conscious to find Chuan Chuen Golf Club an excellent choice for a holiday round. Like the sound of this course?
